Mountain Born by Elizabeth Yates It’s been awhile that I haven’t done read-alouds with my daughter. I think I got too complacent with this knowing that she can already read those read alouds on her own. Last night, I decided to get back to our nightly routine in which I read aloud a chapter or two of her book before she goes to sleep. When I asked her which of her read aloud books she hasn’t read yet, I was surprised to find out that she read most of it already. LOL! One of the very few books she hasn’t finished reading is , Mountain Born. When I flipped through the...
I love the internet technology, I believe that it’s really a great supplement to my kids’ learning experience. But somehow, the internet has this kind of ‘lure’ that if not controlled properly, it can also be a danger to the kids. I really believe that we should not leave the kids alone using the internet even if they’re just playing games. As a precaution, I installed Zoodles in my Chrome so, that my kids can only visit sites and games that’s right for their age. Most of the games in Zoodles are also educational so I know that they’re not just playing...
Finally, I was able to ‘homeschool’ my son for a straight week! I’ve been attempting to homeschool him a few months back but to no avail. He only lasted for 5 minutes max with a lot of whining and complaints. But last week, when I started to go through the book Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, he was able to sit still for more than 5 minutes! Whew! So, that was a start of our daily ‘homeschool’ lesson. We’re currently doing Day 9 now and I’m so happy to see him excited to do his reading lesson. One thing that excites him though is that after...
The first time I knew about Kidzania was in a homeschool forum which I belong. The homeschooling parents were so excited about its newest branch to be opened in Malaysia on the 28th of February, that I got curious and googled it. When I saw the photos and description about Kidzania, I also got excited and showed the site to my kids. My kids were ecstatic and they were already planning what occupations they will be trying out when they get there. If you don’t know about Kidzania yet, it’s an educational and entertaining theme park where the kids get to try being grown-ups. They get...
Meet my son Lyle ( 4 years old) and his favorite cousin from the Zane ( 3 years old). I get so amused to see them together when we were in the Philippines because they’re like bestfriends. I can see them always chatting ( though I don’t know what they’re talking about), playing and holding hands. They look so adorable! Now, that we’re back in Thailand, my son always tells me that he misses his cousin, Zane. I hope they will remain ‘bestfriends’ even when they grow up.
