My daughter is just finishing this year’s curriculum in August, but I just can’t help myself browsing through her next curriculum from Sonlight’s site. I’m actually quite excited for this coming school year because it’s a continuation of her Core in World History.
As usual, I’m just so impressed with the curriculum because it really allows the child to understand the flow of world history in such a simple manner. Because of the different materials available to her, she doesn’t have to try hard to remember the sequence of events and even the important facts, but she naturally learns it. I was even amused one time when she was telling me about Hatshepsut ( the female King) and she said that in her homeschool book, it says that Hatshepsut is the mother of the supposed to be ‘king’ but she has read somewhere else ( I Wonder Why Book) that she’s the step mother. And I never knew that! LOL! Admittedly, I’m also learning a lot from my daughter’s history books. It’s just great!
So back to browsing through Sonlight’s catalog, I’m quite sad too when I saw that when my daughter turns Grade 3, the history part becomes American History. And since we’re not Americans,we’ll have to pass this Core and do some other curriculum. Or if possible, maybe proceed straight to Eastern Hemisphere. Not sure though if everything will be too advanced for her. Anyways, let me finish this Core first, order my next Core and think about that later.
