We just found out that our homeschool materials have arrived in Malaysia. Hubby is going their next week to get it and soon enough it will be our Box Day! Oh, this actually reminds me to wrap up this year’s homeschool so we could start fresh in two weeks time. There are actually only a few things left to do for my daughter: the science experiments and a few other read-alouds. As for my son, he’s still on Lesson 64 on his reading ( Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons). I plan to at least let him reach Lesson 78 ( where the capital letters are introduced) and then start his...

Our computers are ‘sick’. The laptop that I’m using now has to be constantly charged since the battery is no longer worker. The ‘ON’ button has also come out so, I need to poke something inside just to turn it on. Funny, huh? On the other hand, the computer keys on my netbook are not working. So, I have to use the on-screen keyboard if I want to type. It’s just tedious and time consuming to do that so, I just use my netbook for browsing and not for writing posts or chatting. But still, I’m thankful that at least I can still use these computers and they’re...

I’ve just incorporated music study in my children’s homeschool curriculum ( thanks to Charlotte Mason..:)). We’ve been listening to Mozart’s composition every morning for a couple of weeks now. I’ve read to them a short biography about Mozart and we also watched a movie about the life of Mozart from Youtube. I like how my kids are somehow appreciating classical music. A few times, my son will be telling me his feelings whenever he hears a certain kind of composition. He tells me, ” that song makes me happy.. that song makes me sad.. or that sounds scary (LOL!)...

After finishing World History 1, my daughter is now doing her History Lapbook as a way of reviewing our whole year’s worth of lessons. I’m glad that I was able to see this blog ( Chronicle of the Earth) in Pinterest because this is where I saw the printable Story of the World lapbook stuff that I needed. I’m not actually using the Story of the World but Sonlight’s curriculum ( Child’s History of the World, Usborne Time Traveller and Usborne Book of World History) but somehow I saw that their topics overlap and therefore usable for us. So this week, my daughter and...

Even if I haven’t finished reading the Charlotte Mason Companion book yet, but I’ve already put into practice some of the principles in the book. One of this is art study. I never did any art study for my daughter for the past 2 years. Yes, I let her do some art work, but I never thought of introducing to her the different artists and their artwork. After realizing the importance of this, we’ve started with our first picture study : The Four Horsemen and the Apocalypse by Albrecht Durer. ( I’m following the Art Curriculum from www.amblesideonline.com) I printed out the artwork...
