As our 1st year of homeschooling is coming to an end, I’m assessing our year and finding out ways on how to improve on it. Oh, our first year indeed had a lot of bumps and humps. We had difficulty in establishing routines because we had a lot of changes in between; travels, guests, sickness, no baby sitter for our non-homeschooler, sleeping pattern changes and etc. And once our routine gets cut off, we have difficulty finding it back again. One thing that I’m learning now is to always have a Plan B in terms of our schedule and routine. Having a plan B or plan C, makes our homeschool...

Five more weeks to go (or even less) and we’re done with my li’l girl’s homeschool for the year. For her science subject this week, she learned about space and the astronauts. As we went through all the internet links, she went on a virtual tour in a space shuttle and ‘dressed up’ an astronaut. Going through the links on astronauts made me realize that have high risk occupation. I guess, people with high risk jobs needs to have disability insurance of some sort. Anyways, even if we’ve covered most of her lessons for the year, but we still have a lot of catching...

Our Father’s day was quite unique. Yes, we did something special for Hubby. My li’l girl made a card for him while I did a video with my kids greeting him for Father’s day and etc. But the difference for this Father’s Day is that Hubby also did something special for us. He surprised us all with a bouquet of flowers for me and my daughter and goodies for our li’l boy. All that and love letters for each of us. Sweet! It would also been nice if we bought a best cheap gift basket for him. But I’ve already given his Father’s gift a week before. Here are the...

After finishing a week worth of lessons for my daughter’s History class in just one sitting, we’re having a break. We’ve really breezed through the 5 chapters of lessons since they are all in a story form. My daughter loves to hear stories and it’s so easy for her to comprehend and remember the details of the stories. I guess this proves that she’s really an auditory learner. As we’re having a break now, I’m here catching up with my online work, while she’s doing the Hama Beads. It’s like she’s doing ‘crafts’ for her break....

We’re here in the Center now. Once a week, we’re try to do homeschool out of the house. I guess this is just to take out the monotony of being in the house everyday. I believe the ‘change’ of environment is good for my daughter, as well as for me. When we’re here at the center, we tend to be more relaxed as our school time is not just dependent on the length of my son’s nap. My son is still a pre schooler and tends to disturb our classes when he’s around. My daughter on the other hand easily gets distracted and it takes more effort for her to concentrate...
