Yesterday, my friends and I went on a girl’s day out and brought my daughter along. There were 6 of us and we had the whole afternoon by ourselves. After eating in Mcdonalds and getting tired of walking around the mall, we decided to check if they have English movies at the Cinema. They had animated movies which my girl could have enjoyed but they’re all dubbed in Thai. The only English movie available was Taken 2 which is an action movie. When we asked the counter whether an 8 year old could watch the movie, they said, ‘yes’ but she has to pay the full price. I was actually more concerned of the PG rating which I couldn’t see anywhere. But since they said, Yes, I thought that maybe it’s GP even if it’s an action movie. My friends were all excited to watch the movie too so, I just didn’t ask anymore questions and decided to close my daughter’s eyes or talk to here whenever there are scenes not appropriate for her.

So, we went and I was a bit uncomfortable for awhile when I saw a lot of violence in the film. There were ‘bad men’ with dutch masters cigars and guns and a lot of shooting too. A few times my daughter had to sit close to me and closed her eyes during the intense action scenes. It was actually the first ‘non-cartoon’ movie apart from Narnia that she has watched. But overall she like the movie and the fact that it was located in Turkey. It was one of the countries she has studied a few weeks back. She exclaimed, ‘Oh, that’s how Turkey looks like! But I don’t see the women weaving!’.. LOL!
