A few months ago, I experienced burn out in homeschool. That was a very difficult time for me and the kids. It seemed like homeschool was not working for us anymore and the kids were just so unmotivated. I, on the other hand, became so weary and tired of prodding them. And finally, we went on a short break ( 2 weeks Christmas break) and when we resumed homeschooling I introduced the ‘Sticker Reward System’. In every good thing they do, from being in the homeschool room on time to doing their work well, they get a sticker. Then they get small rewards if they reach a certain number...
I just watched a video posted by our friend. It was their Sunday breakfast with a ‘mini- orchestra’. You see, he has three children who knows how to play the violin. So, during their family breakfast, the kids played a few songs. That was really so cool! I would love to have breakfast with a mini orchestra at the background. But as for now, my kids don’t know how to play musical instruments. If they’re interested enough and we have the budget, we could send them to music school and buy them their musical instruments of their choice from violins to bow right at WWBW .
I joined a Malaysian homeschool network group in Facebook. Even if I’m one of the silent ‘listener’ in that group, I really find a lot of inspiration and encouragement there. But there is just one thing that I ‘envy’ with the rest of the members of the group, it’s the fact that they are all based in Malaysia ( and I’m not) and they have all the field trips and activities arranged for the kids. This has been like missed opportunities for my kids. I see their photos in the car factories, chocolate factories and such. I can’t just help but wish we’re...
I was so impressed with these kids who performed in a charity show last month. They were elementary students from one of the schools in the city and they really play so well. I really enjoyed their performance because aside from the superb music, they were also so cute. I could still remember them queuing up near the stage and when it was their turn to perform, they automatically set their instruments without the trombone cases and started to play. Smart and talented kids!
